You
often hear about internet millionaires and overnight success on the
internet. While those stories may be true, they are certainly more the
exception than the rule. The real question is can you make money on the
internet? Beyond a doubt, the answer is yes. Whether you do eBay,
affiliate programs, telecommuting, e-products or offer products or
services through your own website, you definitely can make money.
Ebay (www.ebay.com) has become one of the largest sales tools for
products on the internet. The internet auction site has millions of
people buying and selling things all the time, and there are very few
limits on what you can sell. Whatever you have an interest in can be
bought and sold on eBay. There are many people making a living buying
wholesale lots of goods and selling them individually through eBay. Of
course, the other opportunity available is selling unused or unwanted
items that are collecting dust on your shelves, in your attic,
basement, or closets.
Another market is ClickBank.com. ClickBank sells downloadable digital
products and gives people the opportunity to become affiliates of those
products in order to make commission. This gives you multiple
opportunities to make money. If you have information on how to
do anything, you can write a short book on it and sell it through
ClickBank.
Many websites now offer what are known as affiliate marketing programs.
You sign up as an affiliate and then advertise that product on your
website or through an email campaign. You then get a percentage of the
sales that are made through your unique links. The percentages start
anywhere from 5% on up, but most are in the 20-40% range. This means if
you are selling an item for $100, you could make up to $40 on each sale
for simply advertising the product. This makes it sound a bit easier
than it actually is, but if you do an effective campaign, you can make
money though affiliate programs.
Telecommuting is also fast becoming a viable alternative to traveling
to your workplace. Virtual assistants, once almost unknown, are
becoming commonplace in today’s web-based market. You can market your
skills through third party sites like Elance or GURU or set up a
website and market your services in that fashion. Today’s virtual
assistants cover all aspects of work from typing, graphic design,
telecommunications, transcriptions, data entry and many others. Whether
you do freelance work or work through an employer, there are many
home-based opportunities out there.
